Ameda Although breastfeeding is the natural and healthy way to nourish your

baby, it’s not always easy. Many new mothers are scared away from nursing

because of difficulty getting started and lack of information about what to

do when things don’t go as planned so you can take easy.

    Dear Ms. Brosas,

I just happen to stumble this website/blog while posting some comments on another website. Although I’m a mother of 2 teenage kids, I find your blog very insightful especially for new mothers. I applaud for making this site.

I’ve been wondering about you since you won your beauty title in the 70s. I’ve watched it and only few beauty titlist do I remember all through out these past 3.5 decades their names, and one is yours, along with Ms. Margie Moran and few others…

I understand that your daughter is competing this year’s Bb. Pilipinas, congratulations and good luck to her!

    God Bless

    Shirley

    Hi Shirley!

Yes my daughter made it to 2nd runner up in the recent Binibining Pilipinas Beauty Pagent. We have no regrets. It was a learning experience she enjoyed tremendously. We are happy at how God is moving in her life and we are sure that our Lord will open many more doors of opportunities for her.

    Thank you!

    Hi Miss Chiqui!

I’m from Mindanao. Obviously, it would be hard for me to attend your Lamaze classes. Do you have any books or magazines about childbirth which I can read, so it would be the same as attending your classes?

    Hi chiqui,
i am 36weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. I was on bed rest since week22. I just saw your class schedule for breastfeeding and how i wish i can attend.. anyway, I have a question…After delivery, do we really have to wait for few days for the milk to come out? Is there a way that it will come out right after delivery so that we don;t have to resort to formula because of the thought that the baby might be hungry already and i am not producing milk yet?

    hi ms. chiqui!

Hi Chiqui, i’m only in my 2nd month of pregnancy and I read that pregnant women should start on bradley method classes when they’re in their 6th month. Will you be holding classes in June? and if so, how much is it for a 12 week session? and any chance you would be holding classes somewhere in the south like alabang, paranaque or somewhere close by? would appreciate your reply, thank you!

  28. on 23 Feb 2010 at 5:48 am Chiqui Brosas

I use to teach the full series of the Bradley class of 12 sessions but not anymore. I teach Prepared Childbirth Classes which are only 4 sessions. The best time to begin is on the 6th month so it is best to get in touch with me on your 5th month. You may text Olive for more information at +63917-88BIRTH. Visit this site for the succeeding schedule of classes in the coming months. Thank you!

  29. on 23 Feb 2010 at 6:26 pm Chiqui Brosas

I think, to be able to successfully breastfeeding you have to be able to make that decision early, even before you give birth. Be committed, patient, dedicated to that decision. Learn as much as you can. Read. Attend breastfeeding classes and get support.
From what I have observed, mothers will not normally feel the let down on day one of their baby’s birth but that doesn’t mean you have no breast milk. Latch your baby to your breast thirty minutes to an hour after birth. Room in asap. Breastfeed on demand as often as possible (around every 1.5 to 2 hours). Exclusively breastfeed. Enjoy this bonding time with your baby. Trust in your body and mother nature, you have milk!

Hi! I chanced upon your website while looking for some tips on breastfeeding. I’ve been trying to relactate for a month now but my baby boy, now 8 months old, doesn’t seem to want to latch. I stopped breastfeeding on his 4th month. Also, he now has two central lower incisors. I really want to breastfeed him now. How should i proceed?

  35. on 17 Jul 2010 at 8:21 am Chiqui Brosas

To relactate, you need to put the baby to your breast again as often as possible. You can buy an SNS kit in Medela and use it sothat your baby thinks you still have milk so he actually sucks on your breast. An SNS is a gadget that you hang on your neck where you put some milk in. The two small tubes you tape on each breasts near the nipples. When you turn on the flow botton, milk will come down on the tubes to the baby’s mouth. You can be creative and make one using a syringe and a small tube attached to it). I hope I am able to help somehow.
