Reason for First Aid & CRP

A few years ago a student of mine in my Bradley childbirth class talked with me and recounted the tragic event that happened to her baby. It’s been some time ago so I can not remember all the facts and details of the whole event except for the things that struck me. She had hired a midwife to look after her baby. For some reason while the midwife was feeding her a bottle of milk, the baby chocked. She panicked and did not know what to do. Unfortunately, their baby never made it.

I was shocked with her story and teary eyed. It left my heart heavy, even up to now as I try to remember it. That is one of the most painful thing that could ever happen to a parent, to lose their precious child. Everything else we could afford to buy but not a life of an individual! It was comforting to see that both the mother and father were calm and seem to have come into terms with the matter.

Together with some doctor friends and myself, we decided to come up with a CPR class. Their whole family were the first to attend the class. Later on, I decided to include it in our First Aid class. These are life saving techniques that many of us take for granted. They are extremely important to know and to keep reviewing. You’ll never know when you will need to save a life!
